Yashica Smith
Board of Directors
Yashica Smith is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, entrepreneur, and health educator whose life's work is rooted in one conviction: that people cannot truly take ownership of their health until someone meets them where they are and gives them the knowledge to do so.
Raised in Southern New Jersey, Yashica's journey spans clinical practice, nursing education, and entrepreneurship. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and serves as nursing faculty at the university level, where she challenges students to see beyond diagnoses and treatment plans and to recognize the full human being in front of them. She is also the founder of ShiCares MedSpa, a multi-location practice where confidence, prevention, and self-care are treated as healthcare, not luxuries. Her own personal journey with skin health and holistic wellness is not background; it is the foundation of everything she offers.
Her commitment to Grown in Haiti is the natural extension of that mission. She believes the principles she has built her career on, access to education, human-centered care, and community empowerment, are universal. Through her work with Grown in Haiti and the Cap-Rouge community wellness initiative, she brings her clinical expertise, her educator's heart, and her lived experience to a project rooted in something she holds deeply: that healing, learning, and growing are not privileges reserved for those with access, but birthrights that belong to every community.
