Healthy Soil, Living Water
We are restoring the land from the ground up, building resilient systems that retain moisture, prevent erosion, and bring the soil back to life.
Why Water & Soil Cannot Be Separated
Healthy soil helps hold water. Healthy water systems help keep soil alive. In a landscape shaped by erosion and uneven rainfall, restoring one without the other is never enough.
Our Approach
-

Contour Planting & Swales
Capturing and redirecting water along the land’s natural curves.
-

Soil Regeneration
Using mulch, compost, and living roots to rebuild fertility naturally.
-

Natural Filtration Systems
Vetiver and other plants slow runoff and purify water.
Roots of Impact

4 Rainwater Catchment Systems Built
These gravity-fed systems collect and store rainfall for homes and gardens, helping families manage uneven rainfall with local infrastructure. Four units are built. Construction on the fifth cistern began in early 2026; an indoor community learning space is planned above it. When complete, the five systems will hold close to 87,000 gallons. Drinking-water treatment remains a separate planned step.
-
ongoing compost & mulch production
What others discard, we return to the earth. Every banana peel, dried leaf, and weeded vine becomes part of a deeper cycle, feeding the soil that feeds us. By composting organic matter and layering mulch over our gardens and tree beds, we lock in moisture, suppress weeds, and build soil that is alive. Nothing is thrown away. Everything becomes part of the return.

6 Regenerative Sites at Different Stages
We work across six regenerative sites at different stages of development, with work now begun at the newest. Agroforestry, soil cover, and water management develop together at each site. These landscapes provide places for farmers and youth to observe changes and learn practical restoration skills.
-
8 Swale & Vetiver Systems Installed
These systems invite water to sink in and nourish the soil. Vetiver lines act like living nets, holding hillsides in place, capturing sediment, and filtering out contaminants before they reach rivers or wells. It is a simple and powerful design rooted in observation and respect for how water already moves across this land.

Dozens of soil building species shared
From nitrogen-fixing gliricidia to fast-growing Mexican sunflower, these plants grow in order to restore. Shared across communities, they enrich the soil, support food production, and protect against erosion. Each species is carefully chosen to thrive in Haiti’s diverse microclimates while honoring traditional knowledge and building ecological resilience.
Healthy soil and water are the foundation of life
By restoring natural flows and rebuilding the living layers beneath our feet, we make space for resilience, abundance, and renewal.
Support our work to revive what has been lost and protect what remains.
