This work begins with the priorities women farmers name for themselves: planting materials, healthier soils, water security, practical training, market opportunity, and freedom to make long-term decisions about land and livelihoods.

Sidney-Max Etienne is completing research on the socioeconomic impact of women farmers in Haiti, developed through an intensive gender and development course at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.
